I finally got out around 10 a.m. and moved quickly, and was thinking I would get to Saskatoon really quickly at the pace I was biking at, yet I had this awful feeling in my stomach all day. Then, I blew a tire.... I went to reach for my phone.... I had forgotten it, frustrated I was forced to sit next to a poopie diaper someone had disposed of on the side of the road. I waited for the support vehicle to come and meet up with me. We then changed the tire and began back down the road....... within less than one kilometer I hit yet another rock and popped the same tire. We changed it and I managed to get 10 km before the tire popped again. I must admit I was a little frustrated at this time, as we were completely out of tubes and 80 km from Saskatoon.
We headed into Saskatoon around rush hour, and found a lovely bike shop called Bruce Cycleworks. The staff there were extremely kind to us and gave us a 20% discount off the materials we needed, and changed our tires for us! From there we headed back out.... and on the way out I was interviewed on Drew Remenda Sports Show in Saskatoon. Drew and Jamie the two hosts of the show, asked some fantastic questions in regards to my father's diagnosis and Chase the Cure and I really enjoyed their interview.
We finally reached our destination 80 km outside of Saskatoon. I ate some Rolaids due to an upset stomach and began to bike back in with the little sunlight we had left. As I traveled the stomach pains became worse and worse, and my pace became slower, and slower. I was just wanting to finish the ride allowing for me to have a couple days off and deal with the pains I had. We were around 15 km outside of Saskatoon after a long slog. I came in and laid down on the RV floor and asked Scott Fossay for the score on the Stanley Cup game, I heard Penguins won and I was out the door on the side of the road relieving the stomach pains I had.
After this I thought all was well and quickly finished the ride into Saskatoon. We arrived in Saskatoon and I loaded my bike up to go find a Wal-Mart to purchase Pepto-Bismol to relieve the slight discomfort I had. Yet again while walking up to the till, I realized I would not make it through the line up and gave Scott my banking information and ran outside to the nearest garbage can. From that point I realized that I had food poisoning due to something I had eaten earlier that day. The night was rough but Scott really helped me through it by telling me to keep drinking water, and today I feel a lot better. Just tired!
We are in Saskatoon for a few days now so I plan on getting my health right back up to my standard and ride down to see some Riders in Regina!!!! All is well, we hit a little speed bump today but it won't stop the Chase!!!!
